Rose Prick Eau De Parfum by Tom Ford - A scent to remember

Rose Prick Eau De Parfum by Tom Ford - A scent to remember

Tom Ford's Rose Prick is an extremely popular fragrance. A unique scent that will remind you of how Patchouli exhales around the Turkish Rose note and blends into your skin.

Tom Ford has planned the release of a new perfume from his exclusive Private Blend Collection for the beginning of 2020, the collection that represents his personal fragrance lab where he imagines special fragrances for collectors and connoisseurs. Rose Prick comes in a dusty pink matte bottle with the line's signature chess piece shape and handles the rose note in a "juicy, flowery, and full-bodied" manner.

Some call him the greatest fashion god of our time, while others call him a provocateur and a pervert. With exorbitantly high prices and the sometimes offensive marketing strategies of the fashion world, Tom Ford polarizes like no other designer. Tom Ford represents sex, and eroticism, and is not for everyone. That is what Rose Prick represents.

A juicy rose with patchouli that is erotic, appealing, and not at all reserved. Rose Prick eats into the wall and never returns to the room. The scent is present, but not overpowering. Sharply rosy at first, slightly woody at the end. However, it is critical to understand that this requires self-assurance. Hiding isn't nearly as effective as hiding as a man with such a divisive rose scent.

Are you wearing it, or is it wearing you?

Rose Prick is a "wonderfully wild" bouquet of exquisite varieties of roses - May, Turkish, and Bulgarian - and their spiky interlocking stems that "intertwine and combine their flowers in pink perfection" inspired by the famous and provocative American designer's own rose garden. Aromatic spice extracts add dimension to the bouquet, while Indonesian patchouli and roasted tonka beans provide a pleasant warmth at the perfume's base.

  • top notes: Sichuan pepper, turmeric
  • heart notes: Bulgarian rose, Rose de Mai, Turkish rose
  • base notes: patchouli, tonka bean

Almost immediately, a generous handful of pepper follows the rose into the cauldron — not too hot, but just hot and spicy, earthy, and clove-y, with a heaping ladle of warm yellow turmeric on top. Unlike saffron, it imparts a soft culinary smack rather than an aggressive, bloody metallic tinge; it cools the fragrance, making it cozy and reminiscent of the kitchen, if not nostalgic.

The combination of rose and turmeric achieves this effect. They become gooseberry jam. If you've never tried it — or if you've forgotten about it long enough that you've lost the purity of your perception of it — the rose that remains is still clearly legible, but it takes on an unusual color. It's not a red, pink, or even a tea-colored rose; it's brassy, orange-red, like fallen leaves, as if the spices have imparted their color to the petals. When combined with the spices, the rose fragrance becomes more muted and sweeter, but not candy-like or honeyed, as if adding a very precise amount of sugar revealed the rose fragrance's thickest, starchiest, woodiest, or even most vegetable note.

Regardless, sugar is never far away. It lingers on the edge of our perception as if they still put a little too much in there, but the rose absorbed only what it needed to transform itself, leaving a frosting of unused sugar granules on the sides of the cauldron. In reality, it is the not-too-spicy pepper that I mentioned earlier: if you put your nose low enough into a sugar bowl, you will first feel a buzzing, tingling irritation of your olfactory receptors, rather than the aroma of sweets per se. Rose Prick is surrounded by that spicy tint, which later reveals light subtones of patchouli and tonka bean. What does Rose Prick Smell Like?

"Flesh…Petals…Thorns. Inspired by my private rose garden, Rose Prick is a wild bouquet of beautiful breeds, a trilogy of rose de Mai, Turkish, and Bulgarian roses. Sharp and pristine, the piercing prickles of the stems hook onto each other, bonding their blooms in pink perfection." - Tom Ford

Longevity

It lasted ten hours before it became a skin scent and another 14 hours before it became difficult to detect on my skin. After three hours of wear, the sillage and projection were noticeable. Smells like a rose garden. I didn't think it got too sickly sweet for a sweeter rose scent, though the phase I liked best was when the rose was paired with earthier, greener elements. This is a very light rose scent, it smells very fresh and tends to stay a long time. I think this scent would be amazing for winter! This is perfect for people who have a sensitivity to very heavy scents, it’s light and airy. I definitely recommend this for a casual everyday scent.

Tom Ford fragrances

Each Tom Ford fragrance is inspired by the glamorous past of fragrance when the world's most valuable components were employed to create supremely sophisticated aromas. Collections, like fashion, are inspired by a specific theme: variations on the seductively sensual note of White Musk, bringing us into the exotic Jardin Noir, along with oud twists. "I've wanted to return out for years because it is one of the most eternally fascinating elements in a perfumer's palette. For that collection, I examined how oud may combine with other valuable ingredients from the Middle East's rich and storied culture and craft traditions."

Fragrances are fascinating

Private Blend Collection

In addition to the Tom Ford signature line, the Private Blend Collection is my personal scent laboratory: "It is here that I am able to develop really rare, unique perfumes that are unrestrained by popular scent-making conventions. Private Blend is intended for the true scent aficionado "is how the designer/perfume enthusiast explains it. Each scent starts with a delicate extract from a single note: amber, tobacco, black violet, leather, gardenia..."

Whatever collection he creates, it is always in a completely wearable and sharing way - following the traditional practice in perfumery, when gender was "blurred" Tom Ford feels that men and women can wear any of his perfumes.

The Perfectionist in all Areas

"Fragrances are fascinating," he has noted. "You associate things with your own associations based on your previous experiences. When I think of vetiver as an ingredient, I remember many men I've known over the years who wore it because it is such a timeless man's fragrance, and there are certain older iconic scents built around it that I am very familiar with. But if you're 20 today and your girlfriend wears Grey Vetiver, as many women claim they want to do, you'll close your eyes and recall her when you're 40 or 50. As a result, it is tough to pinpoint. Meanwhile, approximately 30% of those who wear Black Orchid are guys - it works both ways..." Tom Ford is known for working closely with the perfumers who have built his collection and for being a perfectionist in all areas, including smell.

A fragrance so Lovely it Hurts

As disclosed by the tastemaker: "I believe fragrance is more essential than clothing. Actually, I'm not a materialistic person. I'm acutely aware that everything we encounter is fleeting. We have stuff and get to enjoy them, sometimes very fine possessions, but I might be just as happy in New Mexico with no clothes and a one-room adobe house. Of course, it'd be gorgeous — I'd have my one Indian pot in the correct area and a little pallet bed in the ideal spot on the floor. Except for scent, I wouldn't miss the rest. I'd struggle to live without it more than I would without expensive clothing and fancy furniture."

Depth and Richness

"Because, like music or food, the smell is a very direct sensory stimulus," Tom Ford explains. It arouses the senses, eliciting emotion, recollection, and feeling. It doesn't mean I have to buy expensive perfume; it just means I have to smell the flowers and the scenery. To me, the fragrance is much more than an accessory. It is, in many respects, the primary event - certainly one of my greatest interests as a creative person..."

And here's a hint from the man himself: "Layer one or two perfumes to give a sense of depth and richness - ideal for the party season. Because I don't change my fragrance for the evening, I usually wind up wearing four or five different perfumes by the end of the day."

We say, if it's good enough for Mr. Ford, it's certainly good enough for us...
