Zadig and Voltaire

Zadig & Voltaire redefines French luxury for the modern lady, inspired by a little bit of art and iconic collections - cashmere knits and leather jackets

Zadig Voltaire redefines
French luxury

You may know how to be a boho rocker à la Zadig & Voltaire, complete with cashmere knits, ripped jeans, and great biker jackets, but do you know what What does the French label stand for? Zadig & Voltaire, the fashionable kids of Parisian fashion, has made their Kiwi debut, arriving in two covetable bottles: This is Her! and Here He Is!

The brand was named after a French icon

Voltaire, the French philosopher, and writer, is honored in Zadig & Voltaire. Voltaire created the character Zadig. He was a revolutionary who advocated for everyone to be able to be themselves. This same free spirit and individualism are captured by Zadig and Voltaire.

Fashion is in the blood

Fashion is in the blood

When Thierry Gillier, the founder of Zadig & Voltaire, created the company nearly two decades ago, it certainly came as no surprise to his family: Gillier is the grandson of Andre Gillier, the co-founder of the legendary French fashion business Lacoste. Zen claims that Gillier grew up in a textile family. He relocated to New York and enrolled at Parsons School of Design.

Zadig & Voltaire synonymous with cool

Have you ever wondered how Parisians manage to appear so fashionable all the time? A wardrobe full of Zadig & Voltaire may have played a role. You feel cool when you wear Zadig & Voltaire clothes, but it's an easy cool. A Zadig woman and a Zadig man are said to be effortless. Consider subtle details, a hint of leather, tattered denim, and oversized tees.

Zadig Voltaire synonymous with
cool

Thierry Gillier is from Troyes, France, a well-known textile city. André Gillier, his father, is a co-founder of Lacoste. He spent his childhood creating, making, and testing on outfits. He fell in love with fashion at a young age and chose to pursue it as a career.

He developed multiple multi label clothing stores dubbed Zadig after Voltaire s fig

He developed multiple multi-label clothing stores dubbed "Zadig" after Voltaire's figure, whom he characterizes as "charismatic, official, modern, and courageous." He collaborated with a Scottish cashmere producer to create a collection of sweaters and other items. He sold his first designs in 1996.

Cecilia Bonstrom

Cécilia Bönström has been the artistic director of Zadig & Voltaire since 2006. Cécilia, a believer in "less is more," contributes a distinct style and sensibility that complements creator Thierry Gillier well. Cécilia's collections have an ageless air, with each piece feeling fashionable but never ephemeral, thanks to her preference for narrative above just following trends. Cécilia's signature is sumptuous, silky cashmere, leather goods, and delicate, washed-out cotton intertwined with subtly androgynous forms.

Cecilia Bonstrom, the brand's creative director, is also Thierry's wife and a former Zadig & Voltaire model. They must have a fascinating 'How did you two meet?' story-telling. Thierry and Cécilia have accumulated an impressive art collection for their houses (from New York to Normandy), which serves as inspiration for the brand's new lines.  Their house, it's a kind of museum, it's amazing.

The fragrances are addictive

While we won't be able to get our hands on the rock 'n' roll-inspired clothing without flying, a spray of This is Her! and This is Him! will have a similar effect. To produce the scents, the team behind the fragrant duo used brief formulations and excellent raw materials. Zen explains, "We wanted to create two addictive fragrances." Bot feminine and masculine smells lay atop enticing sandalwood base notes, while creamy chestnut and vanilla notes in This are Her! and smokey incense and vanilla notes in This is Him! make the combination difficult to resist.

The fragrances are addictive

Zadig & Voltaire was founded in 1997 as a women's ready-to-wear label. It quickly became a fashion house known for its edgy aesthetic and high-quality materials.

Chic and relaxed. Young, artistic, and Parisian. Masculine and feminine. It would be more than just a regular collection; it would be free-spirited, with a rock attitude. A distinct fashion sense. Collections in collaboration with modern artists and designers. Art as inspiration, fashion as a statement.

The brand was sought after for its approachable and unique feel, thanks to a blend of shapes and silhouettes in fabrics such as cashmere, leather, and denim. Not just for him or her, at any time of day or night, for work or play. Zadig & Voltaire reinvents modern femininity with wild, free, and rock-fueled wardrobe necessities that exemplify the strength and sensuality found in the rough and undone.

The evolution of Cashmere

The cashmere knit is a significant component of Zadig & Voltaire's designs. This has long been a go-to garment for anyone looking to combine luxury and comfort, and Zadig & Voltaire took it to interesting new heights. The label demonstrated how to reinvent a wardrobe essential by experimenting with more casual, loose-fitting styles, as well as eye-catching prints and patterns. A similar method was taken with the leather jacket, blazer, and trench coat, among other pieces. Zadig & Voltaire has recently expanded their collection to include elegant accessories such as scarves and watches and fragrances for both men and women.

The evolution of Cashmere

Purchasing a cashmere sweater is always worthwhile. A cashmere sweater is an unofficial Winter uniform that may be worn with your favorite jeans or put over a slip dress. Make a statement with Zadig & Voltaire's Alma Cachemire Sweater in Raspberry.

The Classic Т-Shirt

Are you looking for the ideal shirt for any occasion? This tunic is crafted from Japanese satin and is both comfortable and attractive. It has gathering features, a loose shape, and an open neck. To complete the feminine appearance, pair with white snow pants and accessorize with the Kate Moss Mini Bag.

The Classic Shirt

Zadig & Voltaire is a dynamic label that changes with the times, with a style that is continuously evolving while maintaining the same timeless reference points for classic cool. Consider the music of Patti Smith, Marianne Faithfull, or Elvis Presley. Some of its early T-shirt and sweater designs made significant statements by using quotes from Mick Jagger and other rock stars. Recently, the brand drew inspiration from Kate Moss for a one-of-a-kind collection of wallet bags in a variety of colors and designs.

The Streetwise Edge

The Streetwise Edge

This Chunky Art Cashmere Sweater with special designs by Jormi Graterol would make an excellent addition to your collection. The Venezuelan-born artist, now living in New York, combines two forms - calligraphy and graffiti - to create the coolest street art fashion.
